The Boy’s Healer
Many people these days are wary of incurring more debt, not like several years ago, when pre approved credit card offers were considered a blessing and many people looked forward to getting one in the mail. There is now the apprehension of not being able to afford their obligations, even if not much has changed with the offers from those in years past, except maybe in terms of interest rates. One good thing that was a result of the economic scare the whole country experienced could be the awareness that everyone now has of the perils of indiscriminate spending. What people have forgotten though, is that credit cards are not evil in themselves, it is how their use has been abused that have brought on the problems that many have been tackling for a long time now. I have one aunt who shared her secret to me on this, and I have seen the good sense in it as well; she regularly changes her credit cards with new ones that are perpetually offered to her, taking care to close out previous ones in the process. She also told me that I should always pay more that than the stated minimum fee that is printed on the bill, or to pay off everything before the due date as much as I can. What everyone keeps reminding me for as long as I can remember is to never spend beyond my means, and that may be the best advice ever.
